Harland DeWayne Mayo, age 61 of Lilburn, GA, passed away Sunday, July 15th, 2018 after overcoming cancer yet succumbing to the effects of the recovery process after a long and valiant fight. DeWayne was preceded in death by his mother Peggy Mayo and step father Garland Mayo. DeWayne is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Kristine Mayo, his children, Courtney and Mark Mang of Lilburn, GA , Chelsea and Gerald Johnson of Lilburn, GA; Grandchildren, Mia Johnson, Myles Johnson, Kaia Mang and Blake Mang; his Father Harland Mayo of Canton, GA ; his siblings, Michael and Christine Mayo of Ponca City, OK, Peter Mayo of Phoenix, Arizona, Garland Jr and Debbie of Ponca City, OK, Frank Mayo of Marshall, Texas, Dennis Mayo, Michele Mayo of Boston, Massachusetts, Nadia Buchanan of Atlanta, GA, Patricia Jenkins of Pace, FL, and Bernard Karabin of Dothan, AL ; his In-laws, Clyde and Judy Amberger of Ponca City, OK and Darlene and Norman Lizotte of Sanford, NC; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives. DeWayne Mayo was born to Harland and Peggy Mayo in Blythe, CA , but lived most of his life in Ponca City, OK and Lilburn, GA. DeWayne attended Ponca City High School, Northern Oklahoma College and Strayer University. He worked in computers for the government before later spearheading his own companies and working as a CEO for X-Mold Industries, 24-7 Pest Control and EnviroTech Enterprise. He was a member of Mountain Park United Methodist Church in Lilburn, GA. DeWayne was a loving and committed husband and a devoted dad and Poppy who loved living life large. He enjoyed golf, fishing, working on cars, skiing, scuba diving, riding motorcycles, travelling with his family, visiting with friends, working with his hands on computer equipment, Oklahoma State Cowboys and OU Sooners Football and dreamed of one day owning a boat of his own. He also was an avid movie goer and liked escaping to the movie theaters to travel the world thru the scenes of the movie. He enjoyed a good sci- fi thriller and could be seen binge watching Netflix most evenings in one of his favorite pairs of pajama pants. He was very determined to succeed so that he could provide for his family and others, and he did. He was endlessly devoted to his family and cherished and loved by his many friends. DeWayne was a faithful friend, and was described by loved ones and strangers alike as a kind and good man. He was a great man and he will be truly missed by his family, his dog Reece, and his many friends and will continue to recede in their memories and hearts. The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Harland DeWayne Mayo will be held on, July 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2pm. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery at 1832 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth GA 30096. The family will receive extended family and friends to Celebrate DeWayne’s Life on Saturday after the service from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Mayo Residence, 1635 Pinetree Pass Lane SW, Lilburn GA 30047.
