After a courageous battle with leukemia, Carolyn Allen of Lilburn, GA, died peacefully with her loving daughter Angela by her side. Carolyn was born on June 24, 1934 in Blackshear, GA. She was the youngest of ten children born to Luther and Mary Gregory. She attended Candler School of Nursing in Savannah, GA, where she earned her registered nurse degree. She enjoyed working in the operating room, until her children were born. Carolyn enjoyed serving her church-home, Mountain Park United Methodist, in many capacities.Carolyn will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many, whether she was cooking meals, volunteering at the church, or playing cards with her card group. She enjoyed traveling, reading, working word-finds, and jigsaw puzzles. Most recently, however, she devoted her days to supporting her daughter, Regina, as she battled cancer.She is survived by her loving daughter, Angela Allen Brantley (Johnny); son-in-law, Scott Dale; daughter-in-law, Ann Allen; granddaughter’s, Selena Temples (Michael), Kaylee Allen, and Melanie Sherrer (William); grandson’s, Bryan Allen, and Johnny Brantley, Jr. (Mandy); great-granddaughter’s, Cheyenne Temples, Alyssa Sherrer, and Andrea Sherrer; and great-grandson’s, Tripp Brantley and Jackson Brantley. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Henry P. Allen, Sr.; son, Patrick Allen, Jr.; and daughter, Regina Allen Dale. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends.The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Carolyn Allen will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Mountain Park United Methodist Church, Stone Mountain, GA. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel.
